The news last week that Senator John Ensign had an affair with one of his employees, and the crushing news today that Governor Mark Sanford (who many conservatives felt could be a strong candidate for president in 2012) has also confessed to an affair with a woman in Argentina, are stark reminders that the collapse of morality in our culture affects everyone.
It is evident everywhere -- from our children in broken homes to the titans of Wall Street to the halls of political power. For Christians, the good news is not that we are perfect (we are not), but that we are forgiven.
