Redistribution Of Wealth-Keep It Simple, Stupid!

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

My holy people; prepare yourselves for what will be done. The time is time and a time. For generations there has been a constant backsliding and the nations of the earth reel from their senseless sin. My desire is for truth in the inward parts and yet I find secret sin and rebellion. My desire is for a Church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing and yet I find wickedness in high places. My desire is for a triumphant, victorious army and yet I find shame and loss.
Where are you, My holy people? Where are you really? I have sent My first shockwave of judgment to your shores and there was a short season of turning toward Me, but that did not last. With each successive wave of judgment, there has been less and less turning toward Me. Now, it seems, there is only more and more of what is being done already and no turning toward Me, but toward answers from people.
Many, America, in your nation, are bringing forth their stuff by day, being forced from their homes, losing all their pride, losing all their security and plunging into captive depression. Fear has already overcome the heart of many in your nation.
Many, Europe, in your nations, are also bringing forth their stuff by day, and many have already lost more than they thought possible. These are a sign, My holy people. These are a sign and you should wake up and look at this sign carefully for there is something much worse than terrorism coming. There is something much worse than financial loss coming. There is something much worse than depression coming.
My holy people, I love you. Fall on your knees, seek My Face, call upon My name, turn from your sin and turn toward Me. Then, I will hear and answer and restore.

Dear Praying Friend,
In 2000, I wrote the 2nd most important letter of my life—a call to prayer for the elections of that year. I’m now writing what may be my most important letter. I knew the importance of those elections in 2000 was beyond any in my life up to that point and that the spiritual warfare surrounding them would be unlike anything any of us had ever seen. That letter was read by millions of people and I believe millions of them responded by praying. I also believe the prayers turned the tide. You may question whether President Bush was the right choice; obviously, he has made some blunders in his tenure as president. But two of his decisions alone left no doubt he was God’s choice: Roberts and Alito. These two Supreme Court Justices have proven critical in the process of breaking the hold of humanism, death and anti-God agendas that have ruled the Court for 50 years.
I assure you that more devastation—the shedding of innocent blood, immorality, decay of the family and an erosion of our godly heritage—has flowed into our nation through that institution than any other door in America. Many times more. The poison allowed into America through their decisions is beyond any of our abilities to articulate. The reality in America is that you don’t need to control Congress or the White Hose to rule the nation. You only need 5 people – 5 out of 9 on the Supreme Court. And for decades those who disagree with just about everything you and I stand for have been in control!
In Bush’s two terms, the process of turning this around began with the appointments of Roberts and Alito. Now, we win some cases 5-4 and lose some 4-5. (We barely outlawed partial birth abortion. The vote of one judge saved thousands of babies from this horror.) We need one more conservative Justice for a consistent majority, then more to build a strong majority. In Obama’s own words, “the next president will appoint at least one, perhaps two or more Supreme Court Justices.” He’s right. Almost certainly two or more older, liberal Justices are waiting until after the elections to retire, in hopes of Obama winning and appointing more liberals to replace them. And he certainly would. He voted against the confirmation of Roberts and Alito. So did Biden. And Biden led the fight against Justice Thomas several years back, another of the 4 solid conservatives.
Make no mistake about it, the two of them do have a litmus test for Supreme Court Justices, and a major part of that test is Roe vs. Wade. McCain and Palin, on the other hand, both have very strong pro-life positions. This alone makes the choice for President simple. To vote for the 2nd and 3rd most liberal senators (Obama and Biden), both of whom are firmly and blatantly proabortion, would be unconscionable. Obama has actually said that if he wins, he would like his first action as president to be the signing of the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate every other law against any aspect of abortion (partial birth abortion, parental notification, etc., etc.). And with a democratic majority in the House and Senate, pretty much any legislation he and Biden want to pass will be a slam-dunk.
There are many other unrighteous positions they hold but this position alone makes the choice easy. If they win this election, it will set America back decades in the cause of life and the restoration we seek. Just as many of you do, I too, want to see a first black President, but not Senator Obama. To allow that noble and godly desire, the economy or one’s position on the war to trump this issue of life and death for the innocent unborn is simply wrong. The scriptures teach that if we choose first to exalt righteousness and turn from evil, God promises to heal our land (see Proverbs 14:34; 2 Chronicles 7:14). It is righteousness that exalts a nation, not wealth, prosperity or armies. If we will finish the process of removing the curses of death and anti-God laws off of America by electing a president that will continue to shift the Court, God will grace us with breakthrough in other areas such as the economy, the war against terrorism, etc.
My faith is not in a person, and certainly not a political party, for the healing of America, but I know God’s word and His ways well enough to know that our decisions do move Him to action or inaction.
Now to the heart of my reason for writing this letter (I realize I am “preaching to the choir”—most of you who know or listen to me are conservative enough to vote for McCain and Palin.) I have not written any appeals for prayer concerning this election because: 1) others have, and 2) I believe our movement has matured to the point that the prayer base of the Church is already praying. But I now feel the need to raise my voice. I am appealing to you to pray for these elections the next two weeks like you’ve never prayed for any in the past. Faithfully. Passionately. Boldly. Ask God for His mercy and grace. We deserve His judgment for removing His influence and authority from our government, schools, homes and businesses; for the killing of 50 million babies; for leading the world in the consumption and exporting of pornography; for passing laws to reject His; etc. But mercy triumphs over judgment and in His wrath He remembers mercy.
In 2000 we actually lost the popular vote and won the election—talk about grace! Please pray for this grace to be released again. But I am also asking you for something more than normal prayer. For those of you who understand spiritual warfare, I am asking you to also include this aspect of prayer. There is no doubt that we have entered a Daniel 10 moment in time: “Then he said to me, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia’” (Daniel 10: 12-13 NAS).
The spiritual warfare in this election is incredibly fierce, and just as it was in Daniel’s day, is all about the restoration of a nation. And also like Daniel, we must keep praying until we win the battle in the heavens.
In August of this year I predicted that September would mark a shift in momentum for these elections. This happened with the appointment of Sarah Palin as the Vice Presidential nominee (who is a true Esther in our generation), but when the economy began its meltdown and the media ramped up their unprecedented attacks on Palin, that momentum wasn’t sustained. But we can see it turn again if we approach this battle as the spiritual warfare it truly is and bind the evil forces involved (see Matthew 16:18-19).
The reality is that this election can be the breakthrough we need to fully shift the Court (and ultimately our nation) or it will be an immeasurable setback that could take many years to reverse—if ever. Please understand what I am saying: if we engage in this battle and do what I am asking—in mass—we will win; if we do not, we will lose. I, for one, don’t intend to allow the latter. I am in Washington, D.C. now (October 20-22) with Lou Engle and a team of prayer leaders from around the nation to war for this election. Join us! Lose some sleep, miss some meals— pray! Pray like never before for these elections. And as you do, involve yourself not only in petitioning prayer but also in spiritual warfare. Use your God-given authority over the plans and strategies of satan’s kingdom. Bind all witchcraft that is working to control the outcome, including occultic powers that are suppressing truth. Release Christ’s Kingdom rule in every way the Holy Spirit leads you. Don’t be deceived and don’t lose hope (if you have to, turn off the TV.) It is not too late to turn these elections. God is plenty powerful enough to do so. The real question is will we rise to the level of prayer and spiritual warfare necessary to release that power. And remember, we don’t need a majority of Christians who are willing and able to do this—only a praying remnant. We can do it!
Here are some practical suggestions to consider:
1) Fast (a meal a day; a day a week; a Daniel fast; 3 days; 10 days; TV; etc.) and spend the time praying.
2) Agree in prayer with someone everyday for God’s will to be done.
3) Form/participate in prayer groups regularly. Churches could pray everyday.
4) Take time in every gathering to pray. (Take 15 minutes in every service to pray for the elections. Turn an entire service to harp and bowl style intercession—worship and prayer combined.)
5) Join 2 or more on a conference call and pray for 15, 20, or 30 minutes.
6) Pray on the way to work (and on the way home).
7) Pray before you go to sleep.
8) Pray before church services.
9) Ask God to give you His strategy—He will!

Make Way For The New

My holy people; before new things come, the old must go. This is not the enemy of your soul at work, but Me. I cause the old to pass away so that the new may come. Do not grieve over the loss of the old, but instead rejoice in what I am about to usher in.

Have you looked around you lately? What has worked in the past, no longer works. Both in the natural and in the spiritual. Not just financial systems are failing, but spiritual systems are failing as well. It is time to repent over worshipping what has been, so that you may participate in what I am bringing. What I am bringing about will be much better.

Many churches are not working these days. Those that focus on methods and plans of the past no longer work, for this is a new time, with new people and new challenges. People are looking for answers, but many churches are trying to give them answers to other things. People want to connect, to know that they are part of something solid. Relationship is so key between you and I, but you see relationship is also important between one another. Who can trust another? Many of My holy people can no longer find people to trust, even within the church. There is no demonstration of My Kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven. Who will be the salt? Who will shine the light? Who will stand before men on My behalf and demonstrate true relationship?

My holy people, are you part of the solution that I am offering people these days or are you part of the problem? I will destroy the ministries that are not demonstrating authentic relationship through reciprocating acts of love and care. I will move those out of the way that are a hindrance, making way for those who will follow My pattern of love and relationship. Even in the midst of the cares of this world, it is possible to have friendships that thrive and are a source of life. Those people, those groups, those ministries will be raised up in this hour to produce what My Church has not produced in a long time: a bounty of faithfulness unto death. Death to self and life unto others. Now is a season of seeking Me and following Me like no other. Look around you and see who needs a friend amongst you and then befriend them. Not an acquaintance, but a friend that invests into the lives of others. Be the instruments of love that I have fashioned you to be. Be and become an accurate expression of Christ in the earth.

Jane Fonda-She Was A Traitor!


In Memory of my brother-in-law LT. C. Thomsen Wieland who spent
100 days at the Hanoi Hilton.

This is for all the kids born in the 70's who do not remember, and
didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older
brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the '100 Women of the Century.'

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never
known how Ms.Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but
specific men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam.
The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot
The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat.
In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAFSurvival School was a
POW in Ho Lo Prison the ' Hanoi Hilton.'
Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed
in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American
'Peace Activist' the 'lenient and humane treatment' he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed and was dragged away.
During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp
Commandant's feet which sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision
(which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's
frenzied application of a wooden baton.
From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's).
He spent 6 years in the 'Hanoi Hilton',,, the first three of which his
family only knew he was 'missing in action'. His wife lived on faith
that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and
get word to the world that they were alive and still survived.. Each
man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number
on it, in the palm of his hand..

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line,
shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like:
'Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?' and 'Are you grateful for the humane
treatment from your benevolent captors?' Believing this HAD to be an act,
they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing
a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the
shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed
him all the little pieces of paper.

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost
number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions
that day.
I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam, and was captured
by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in1968, and held
prisoner for over 5 years.
I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia;
and one year in a 'black box' in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately
poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot,
SouthVietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time,
I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's 'war criminals.'
When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist
political officer if I would be willing to meet with her.
I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs
received... and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North
Vietnamese, and parroted by her as 'humane and lenient.'
Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my
arms outstretched with large steel weights placed on my hands, and beaten
with a bamboo cane.
I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released.
I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did
answer me.
These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be
honored as part of '100 Years of Great Women. 'Lest we forget...' 100
Years of Great Women' should never include a traitor whose hands are
covered with the blood of so many patriots.
There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's
participation in blatant treason, is one of them. Please take the time to
forward to as many people as you possibly can. It will eventually end up
on her computer and she needs to know that we will never forget.

Open Letter To All Sportsmen

Fellow Sportsman,
Hello, my name is Rich Pearson and I have been active in the firearm rights
movement for over 40 years. For the past 15 years, I have served in the Illinois
state capitol as the chief lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle Association.
I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a
result of that experience, I know Obama’s attitudes toward guns and gun owners
better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have
never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm
owner than Barack Obama.
Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record
in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture. While a state senator,
Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and
target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the
state police to raid homes of gun owners and forcibly confiscate banned guns.
Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers
including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Obama also
voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more
than one gun per month.
Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law
abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend
to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against
legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and

And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep.
Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger - a renegade Chicago
priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun
legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has
declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And
let’s not forget Obama’s pal George Soros - the guy who has pumped millions of
dollars into the UN’s international effort to disarm law-abiding citizens.
Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people’s money to fund
his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the
leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of
dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council
Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun
By now, I’m sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization
called “American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA)” talking about what a
swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never
have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns. Let me make it perfectly
clear - everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed
by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting
and shooting. That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are
reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive
private reserves. The AHSA is not your friend, never will be.
In closing, I’d like to remind you that I’m a guy who has actually gone nose to
nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to
identify with this nation’s outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the
law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by
the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a
stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants - so long as
people are willing to give it to him.
That’s the Barack Obama I know.

A Wasted Vote

When asked why they will not vote for a third party candidate, many people will respond by saying something like, "He cannot win." Or, "I don't want to waste my vote." It is true: America has not elected a third party candidate since 1860. Does that automatically mean, however, that every vote cast for one of the two major party candidates is not a wasted vote? I don't think so.

In the first place, a wasted vote is a vote for someone you know does not represent your own beliefs and principles. A wasted vote is a vote for someone you know will not lead the country in the way it should go. A wasted vote is a vote for the "lesser of two evils." Or, in the case of John McCain and Barack Obama, what we have is a choice between the "evil of two lessers."

Albert Einstein is credited with saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. For years now, Republicans and Democrats have been leading the country in the same basic direction: toward bigger and bigger government; more and more socialism, globalism, corporatism, and foreign interventionism; and the dismantling of constitutional liberties. Yet, voters continue to think that they are voting for "change" when they vote for a Republican or Democrat. This is truly insane!

Take a look at the recent $700 billion Wall Street bailout: both John McCain and Barack Obama endorsed and lobbied for it. Both McCain and Obama will continue to bail out these international banksters on the backs of the American taxpayers. Both McCain and Obama support giving illegal aliens amnesty and a path to citizenship. In the debate this past Tuesday night, both McCain and Obama expressed support for sending U.S.forces around the world for "peacekeeping" purposes. They also expressed support for sending combat forces against foreign countries even if those countries do not pose a threat to the United States. Neither Obama nor McCain will do anything to stem the tide of a burgeoning police state or a mushrooming New World Order. Both Obama and McCain support NAFTA and similar "free trade" deals. Neither candidate will do anything to rid America of the Federal Reserve, or work to eliminate the personal income tax, or disband the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Both Obama and McCain support the United Nations. So, pray tell, how is a vote for either McCain or Obama not a wasted vote?

But, back to the "he cannot win" argument: to vote for John McCain is to vote for a man who cannot win. Yes, I am saying it here and now: John McCain cannot win this election. The handwriting is on the wall. The Fat Lady is singing. It is all over. Finished. John McCain cannot win.

With only three weeks before the election, Barack Obama is pulling away. McCain has already pulled his campaign out of Michigan. In other key battleground states, McCain is slipping fast. He was ahead in Missouri; now it is a toss-up or leaning to Obama. A couple of weeks ago, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida were all leaning towards McCain, or at least toss-up states. Now, they are all leaning to Obama. Even the longtime GOP bellwether state of Indiana is moving toward Obama. In addition, new voter registrations are at an all-time high, and few of them are registering as Republicans. In fact, the Republican Party now claims only around 25% of the electorate, and Independents are increasingly leaning toward Obama.

Ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama is headed for an electoral landslide victory over John McCain. John McCain can no more beat Barack Obama than Bob Dole could beat Bill Clinton.

I ask, therefore, Are not conservatives and Christians who vote for John McCain guilty of the same thing that they accuse people who vote for third party candidates of doing? Are they not voting for someone who cannot win? Indeed, they are. In fact, conservatives and Christians who vote for John McCain are not only voting for a man who cannot win, they are voting for a man who does not share their own beliefs and principles. If this is not insanity, nothing is!

So, why not(for once in your life, perhaps) cast a vote purely for principle! Vote for someone who is truly pro-life. Someone who would quickly secure our nation's borders, and end the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. Someone who would, on his first day in office, release Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean and fire U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton. Someone who would immediately, upon assuming office, begin leading the charge to dismantle the Federal Reserve, overturn the 16th Amendment, expunge the IRS, and return America to sound money principles. Someone who would get the US out of the UN. Someone who would stop spending billions and trillions of dollars for foreign aid. Someone who would prosecute the Wall Street bankers who defrauded the American people out of billions of dollars. Someone who would work to repeal NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, the WTO, and stop the NAFTA superhighway. Someone who would say a resounding "No" to the New World Order. Someone who would stop using our brave men and women in uniform as global cops for the United Nations. Someone who would stop America's global adventurism and interventionism. Someone who would steadfastly support and defend the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlemen assign any other possible motive for it? Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication?What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves. Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne! In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free-- if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending--if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained--we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us!
They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable--and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come. It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace-- but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!
