We Are Witness

We are witness...
to the spread of globalism,
the building of a one-world church,
the increase of wickedness,
the breakdown of the traditional family,
the destruction of that priceless bastion of liberty called America.

And to the normalization of homosexuality,
the callous murder of babies,
the filthy pop culture,
the breathtaking increase in governmental surveillance.

We become fearful,
uncertain,
frustrated,
angry,
discouraged.

But this is because our minds and hearts are too focused on things of this world rather than things above. Too often we have the same short view that unbelievers have, rather than the long view that comes from the light of Bible prophecy.

The devil is the god of this world, and his handiwork is evident everywhere, but he is not God and he is not in control of the times and the seasons. Our God is the Father of all seasons and His will is perfect.

Daniel 2:20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: 22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

We should stand in the confidence that the present evil is exceedingly temporary and will soon be cut down.

We are witness....

The Lord Is My Shepherd

Psalm 23
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

I have known some of the wealthiest men on this continent intimately -- also some of the leading scientists and professional people.  Despite their dazzling outward show of success, despite their affluence and their prestige, they remained poor in spirit, shriveled in soul, and unhappy in life. They were joyless people held in the iron grip and heartless ownership of the wrong master.

By way of contrast, I have numerous friends among the relatively poor people -- people who have known hardship, disaster, and the struggle to stay afloat financially. But because they belong to Christ and have recognized Him as Lord and Master of their lives, their owner and manager, they are permeated by a deep, quiet, settled peace that is beautiful to behold.

It is indeed a delight to visit some of these humble homes where men and women are rich in spirit, generous in heart, and large of soul. They radiate a serene confidence and quiet joy that surmounts all the tragedies of their time. They are under God's care and they know it. They have entrusted themselves to Christ's control and found contentment. Contentment should be the hallmark of the man or woman who has put his or her affairs in the hands of God. This especially applies in our affluent age. But the outstanding paradox is the intense fever of discontent among people who are ever speaking of security. By contrast the simple Christian, the humble person, the Shepherd's sheep, can stand up proudly and boast, "The Lord is my shepherd -- I shall not be in want."

Remembering Pearl Harbor

It was 73 years ago today. Many of us were not even born, let alone know what this attack entailed and the results of the attack and the losses. Like our 9/11, The Pearl Harbor attack is a day in infamy and is to be regarded as a "We Will Never Forget".

The USS Arizona Memorial, located at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors killed on the USS Arizona during the Attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 by Japanese imperial forces and commemorates the events of that day. The attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oʻahu was the action that led to United States involvement in World War II.

The memorial, dedicated in 1962 and visited by more than one million people annually, spans the sunken hull of the battleship without touching it. Since it opened in 1980, the National Park Service has operated the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center associated with the memorial. Historical information about the attack, boat access to the memorial, and general visitor services are available at the center. The sunken remains of the battleship were declared a National Historic Landmark on 5 May 1989.

Thankful For The Freedoms Bought With A Price

In 2011, Ohio governor John R. Kasich commemorated Thanksgiving as a time “for friends and family to gather together and express gratitude for our blessings, to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy…,” and a “day when Americans recognize the providence bestowed upon our nation and celebrate the courage and faith of our country’s first settlers…” Even before Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving in 1863, Jefferson Davis had issued a proclamation inviting the Confederate states to “unite in rendering thanks and praise to God for these great mercies, and to implore Him to conduct our country safely through the perils which surround us…”

Perils still surround us. However, the nation that was founded upon religious freedom and individual liberty and opportunity is threatened today, more importantly, from within, by increasing unrest, upheaval, scandal and crisis after crisis.

Lincoln foresaw that the greatest dangers to our nation are internal, not foreign. In 1838 he challenged Americans with the task of perpetuating our political institutions in order to perform gratitude to our founding fathers and duty to our posterity.

“How, then, shall we perform it?” he asked, “At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a Trial of a thousand years.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

When the first American patriots broke away from the tyranny of King George, they knew that they were risking the loss of everything they had, including their lives. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” Jefferson and many of the framers of the constitution seemed to realize that, given enough time, any government tends to become more corrupt, tyrannical and oppressive.

Our political, social and economic freedoms were bought with a price, the blood of the patriots. However, there is a kind of freedom which has been purchased with even more precious blood, the freedom from the power of sin and death. It is this freedom for which we are eternally grateful.

1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Believers have been purchased with a great price, God’s blood. Our works could never be good enough to obtain this great redemption, for which Jesus paid such an incredible price.
