Ponder This

John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Ten Points to Ponder
1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout life.
2] So, why are a car's windshield so large and the rear view mirror so small? Because our past is not as important as our future. So, look ahead and move on.

3] Friendship is like a book. It takes years to write, but only a few seconds to burn.

4] All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, it will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, it can't last long either.

5] Old friends are Gold! New friends are Diamonds! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a base of Gold!

6] Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7] When God solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when God doesn't solve your problems, HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10] Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's peace.

We Have Allowed It

I've not seen in my lifetime any politician who is a heroic figure. The manipulation that all politicians use on one level or another is so transparent. - Dean Koontz

Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct. - Thomas Jefferson

They come in a variety of colors. They can be from red or blue camps, male or female, dumb as a sack of rocks or elitists candidates. They may come to the arena with the best of intentions, the highest ideals, and the loftiest goals.

What remains will be consumed with a putridness of spirit that can be the only result in a quest for unbridled power.

And it's our fault because we have allowed it. We have placed our trust for so many years in the ideals of the Republic that we have forgotten that ordinary men and women occupy the offices. We have gone about our lives working and raising our families, only to come home to the carnage the politicians have wreaked.

While we toiled and sweated under the increasing weight of oppression coming from the federal and state capitols, they have lived off the largesse of our suffering. They have smiled at us in compassion, clucked in sympathy, and have patted us on the back in imagined solidarity for the pain they have inflicted upon us.

And as they make each encroaching step upon the freedoms enshrined in our founding documents, we step back and give them room to take even more. We even justify it to ourselves, saying we have to be safe, have to be protected, have to be coddled, fed, and diapered like we're infants without the capacity to face the harshness and realities of life with the boldness of spirit that has characterized our people for so long.

Today our freedoms are taken away with the stroke of a pen.

Tomorrow it will be at the barrel of a gun.

And when that happens (because it will...) you had better be prepared.

They are even conditioning you to accept it, and have been doing so for years. From a military assault against the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas, to the confiscation of weapons during Katrina, to the presence of military patrols in peaceful neighborhoods (under the guise of "urban operations training"), the very men and women who have taken an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution have been systematically undermining those very freedoms, without so much as a corporate protest by the people.

Our federal government has been caught with its hand in the cookie jar, engaging in duplicitous schemes in order to deprive us of even more freedoms through such actions as Operation Fast and Furious; passing legislation which gives the president the authority to deprive American citizens of their lives with no court appearance, no judge, and no jury; through random searches and enhanced pat-downs in violation of our 4th Amendment protections; through the manipulation of our emotions by pitting one race or one group against another; and through the destruction of our economy and monetary system in order to bring us under complete and total domination.

They are setting the stage to step in and "save" us from ourselves. As they smile and pat us on the back, they are systematically tightening the chains of slavery and oppression that already bind us. Those smiles mask a lust and venality that only an appetite for power can generate.

When the government's armed goons stop you, when the president's civilian army comes knocking on your door, how will you respond? How are you going to survive the ever-expanding police state in which we now exist?
