"Truth forever on the scaffold, lies forever on the throne" — JamesRussell Lowell
THE PRESENT CRISIS.
James Russell Lowell
December, 1845.
When a deed is done for Freedom,
through the broad earth's aching
breast
Runs a thrill of joy prophetic,
trembling on from east to west,
And the slave, where'er he cowers,
feels the soul within him climb
To the awful verge of manhood,
as the energy sublime
Of a century bursts full-blossomed
on the thorny stem of Time.
Through the walls of hut and palace
shoots the instantaneous throe,
When the travail of the Ages
wrings earth's systems to and fro;
At the birth of each new Era,
with a recognizing start,
Nation wildly looks at nation,
standing with mute lips apart,
And glad Truth's yet mightier man-child leaps
beneath the Future's
heart.
So the Evil's triumph sendeth,
with a terror and a chill,
Under continent to continent,
the sense of coming ill,
And the slave, where'er he cowers,
feels his sympathies with God
In hot tear-drops ebbing earthward,
to be drunk up by the sod,
Till a corpse crawls round unburied,
delving in the nobler clod.
For mankind are one in spirit,
and an instinct bears along,
Round the earth's electric circle,
the swift flush of right or
wrong;
Whether conscious or unconscious,
yet Humanity's vast frame
Through its ocean-sundered fibres
feels the gush of joy or shame;—
In the gain or loss of one race
all the rest have equal claim.
Once to every man and nation
comes the moment to decide,
In the strife of Truth with Falsehood,
for the good or evil side;
Some great cause, God's new Messiah,
offering each the bloom or
blight,
Parts the goats upon the left hand,
and the sheep upon the right,
And the choice goes by forever
'twixt that darkness and that light.
Hast thou chosen, O my people,
on whose party thou shalt stand,
Ere the Doom from its worn sandals
shakes the dust against our land?
Though the cause of Evil prosper,
yet 'tis Truth alone is strong,
And, albeit she wander outcast now,
I see around her throng
Troops of beautiful, tall angels,
to enshield her from all wrong.
Backward look across the ages
and the beacon-moments see,
That, like peaks of some sunk continent,
jut through Oblivion's sea;
Not an ear in court or market
for the low foreboding cry
Of those Crises, God's stern winnowers,
from whose feet earth's
chaff must fly;
Never shows the choice momentous
till the judgment hath passed by.
Careless seems the great Avenger;
history's pages but record
One death-grapple in the darkness
'twixt old systems and the Word;
Truth forever on the scaffold,
Wrong forever
on the throne,—
Yet that scaffold sways the Future, and,
behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God within the shadow,
keeping watch above his own.
We see dimly in the Present
what is small and what is great,
Slow of faith, how weak an arm
may turn the iron helm of fate,
But the soul is still oracular;
amid the market's din,
List the ominous stern whisper
from the Delphic cave within,—
"They enslave their children's children
who make compromise with
sin."
Slavery, the earthborn Cyclops,
fellest of the giant brood,
Sons of brutish Force and Darkness,
who have drenched the earth with
blood,
Famished in his self-made desert,
blinded by our purer day,
Gropes in yet unblasted regions
for his miserable prey;—
Shall we guide his gory fingers
where our helpless children play?
Then to side with Truth is noble
when we share her wretched crust,
Ere her cause bring fame and profit,
and 'tis prosperous to be just;
Then it is the brave man chooses,
while the coward stands aside,
Doubting in his abject spirit,
till his Lord is crucified,
And the multitude make virtue
of the faith they had denied.
Count me o'er earth's chosen heroes,
—they were souls that stood
alone,
While the men they agonized
for hurled the contumelious stone,
Stood serene, and down the future
saw the golden beam incline
To the side of perfect justice,
mastered by their faith divine,
By one man's plain truth to manhood
and to God's supreme design.
By the light of burning heretics
Christ's bleeding feet I track,
Toiling up new Calvaries
ever with the cross that turns not back,
And these mounts of anguish number
how each generation learned
One new word of that grand Credo
which in prophet-hearts hath burned
Since the first man stood God-conquered
with his face to heaven
upturned.
For Humanity sweeps onward:
where to-day the martyr stands,
On the morrow crouches Judas
with the silver in his hands;
Far in front the cross stands ready
and the crackling fagots burn,
While the hooting mob of yesterday
in silent awe return
To glean up the scattered ashes
into History's golden urn.
'Tis as easy to be heroes
as to sit the idle slaves
Of a legendary virtue
carved upon our fathers' graves,
Worshippers of light ancestral
make the present light a crime;—
Was the Mayflower launched by cowards,
steered by men behind their
time?
Turn those tracks toward Past or Future,
that make Plymouth rock
sublime?
They were men of present valor,
stalwart old iconoclasts,
Unconvinced by axe or gibbet
that all virtue was the Past's;
But we make their truth our falsehood,
thinking that hath made us
free,
Hoarding it in mouldy parchments,
while our tender spirits flee
The rude grasp of that great Impulse
which drove them across the
sea.
They have rights who dare maintain them;
we are traitors to our
sires,
Smothering in their holy ashes
Freedom's new-lit altar-fires;
Shall we make their creed our jailer?
Shall we, in our haste to
slay,
From the tombs of the old prophets
steal the funeral lamps away
To light up the martyr-fagots
round the prophets of to-day?
New occasions teach new duties;
Time makes ancient good uncouth;
They must upward still, and onward,
who would keep abreast of Truth;
Lo, before us gleam her camp-fires!
we ourselves must Pilgrims be,
Launch our Mayflower, and steer boldly
through the desperate winter
sea,
Nor attempt the Future's portal
with the Past's blood-rusted key.

The Day of Purim
Purim is a festive Jewish holiday that celebrates the deliverance of the Jews from their enemies in the biblical Book of Esther. Purim is celebrated on the fourteenth day of the Hebrew month of Adar, which usually falls sometime in February or March. Purim is such a popular holiday that the ancient rabbis declared that it alone would continue to be celebrated after the Messiah comes. All other holidays will not be celebrated in the messianic days.
Purim is so-called because the villain of the story, Haman, cast the "pur" (the lot) against the Jews yet failed to destroy them. Reading Purim Story is a central part of the Purim celebration.
Facing an existential threat from modern day Persia (Iran), Israel's leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressed the U.S.Congress yesterday amid much consternation about protocol.
So long as God gives me breath, I promise to fight the ancient evil of anti-Semitism and to stand with Israel, the apple of God's eye.

Six Boys and Thirteen Hands
Each year I am hired to go to Washington , DC, with the eighth grade class from Clinton, WI where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy visiting our nation's capitol, and each year I take some special memories back with me. This fall's trip was especially memorable.
On the last night of our trip, we stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial. This memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the most famous photographs in history -- that of the six brave soldiers raising the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan, during WW II
Over one hundred students and chaperones piled off the buses and headed towards the memorial. I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue, and as I got closer he asked, 'Where are you guys from?'
I told him that we were from Wisconsin . 'Hey, I'm a cheese head, too! Come gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story.'
(It was James Bradley who just happened to be in Washington , DC , to speak at the memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his dad, who had passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the buses pull up. I videotaped him as he spoke to us, and received his permission to share what he said from my videotape. It is one thing to tour the incredible monuments filled with history in Washington , DC , but it is quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.)
When all had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that night.)
'My name is James Bradley and I'm from Antigo, Wisconsin My dad is on that statue, and I wrote a book called 'Flags of Our Fathers' . It is the story of the six boys you see behind me.
'Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team.. They were off to play another type of game. A game called 'War.' But it didn't turn out to be a game. Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don't say that to gross you out, I say that because there are people who stand in front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old - and it was so hard that the ones who did make it home never even would talk to their families about it.
(He pointed to the statue) 'You see this next guy? That's Rene Gagnon from New HampshireIf you took Rene's helmet off at the moment this photo was taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a photograph.. .a photograph of his girlfriend Rene put that in there for protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. It was just boys who won thebattle of Iwo Jima . Boys. Not old men.
'The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank. Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the 'old man' because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his boys in training camp, he didn't say, 'Let' s go kill some Japanese' or 'Let' s die for our country' He knew he was talking to little boys.. Instead he would say, 'You do what I say, and I'll get you home to your mothers.'
'The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from Arizona . Ira Hayes was one of them who lived to walk off Iwo Jima . He went into the White House with my dad. President Truman told him, 'You' re a hero'. He told reporters, 'How can I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27 of us walked off alive?'
So you take your class at school, 250 of you spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250 of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes carried the pain home with him and eventually died dead drunk, face down, drowned in a very shallow puddle, at the age of 32 (ten years after this picture was taken).
'The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop, Kentucky . A fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told me, 'Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn't get down. Then we fed them Epsom salts. Those cows crapped all night.' Yes, he was a fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19. When the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother's farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning. Those neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away.
'The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John Bradley, from Antigo, Wisconsin , where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994, but he would never give interviews. When Walter Cronkite' s producers or the New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say 'No, I'm sorry, sir, my dad's not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no phone there, sir. No, we don't know when he is coming back.' My dad never fished or even went to Canada. Usually, he was sitting there right at the table eating his Campbell 's soup. But we had to tell the press that he was out fishing. He didn't want to talk to the press.
'You see, like Ira Hayes, my dad didn't see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys are heroes, 'cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a combat caregiver. On Iwo Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died on Iwo Jima , they writhed and screamed, without any medication or help with the pain.
'When I was a little boy, my third grade teacher told me that my dad was a hero. When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, 'I want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did not come back. Did NOT come back.'
'So that's the story about six nice young boys.. Three died on Iwo Jima , and three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out, so I will end here. Thank you for your time.'
Suddenly, the monument wasn't just a big old piece of metal with a flag sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero. Maybe not a hero for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless.
One thing I learned while on tour with my 8th grade students in DC that is not mentioned here is . . that if you look at the statue very closely and count the number of 'hands&# 39; raising the flag, there are 13. When the man who made the statue was asked why there were 13, he simply said the 13th hand was the hand of God.
Great story - worth your time - worth every American' s time.
Please pass it on.

A Soldier In The Army Of God
I am a soldier in the Army of God.
The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer.
The Holy Bible is my code of conduct.
Faith, prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare.
I have been taught by the Holy Spirit,
Trained by experience,
Tried by adversity
And tested by fire.
I am a volunteer in this Army,
And I am enlisted for eternity.
I will not get out,
Sell out,
Be talked out,
Or pushed out.
I am faithful,
Reliable,
Capable,
And dependable.
If my God needs me,
I am there.
I am not a baby,
I do not need to be pampered,
Petted,
Primed up,
Pumped up,
Picked up,
Or pepped up.
I am a soldier.
I am not a wimp.
I am in place,
Saluting my King,
Obeying His orders,
Praising His name,
And building His kingdom!
No one has to send me flowers,
Gifts, food, cards, or candy.
I do not need to be cuddled,
Cradled,
Cared for, or catered to.
I am committed.
I cannot have ny feelings hurt,
Bad enough to turn me around.
I cannot be discouraged enough,
To turn me aside.
I cannot lose enough,
To cause me to quit.
When Jesus called me into His Army,
I had nothing.
If I end up with nothing,
I will still come out ahead.
I will win!
My God has and will continue
To supply all my needs.
I am more than a conqueror.
I will always triumph.
I can do all things through Christ.
Devils cannot defeat me.
People cannot disillusion me.
Weather cannot weary me.
Sickness cannot stop me.
Money cannot buy me.
Governments cannot silence me.
And hell cannot handle me.
I am a soldier.
Even death cannot destroy me.
For when my Commander
Calls me from this battlefield,
He will promote me to Captain
And then allow me to rule with Him.
I am a soldier in the Army,
And I am claiming victory.
I will not give up.
I will not turn around.
I am a soldier,
Marching Heaven bound.

We Are Witness
We are witness...
to the spread of globalism,
the building of a one-world church,
the increase of wickedness,
the breakdown of the traditional family,
the destruction of that priceless bastion of liberty called America.
And to the normalization of homosexuality,
the callous murder of babies,
the filthy pop culture,
the breathtaking increase in governmental surveillance.
We become fearful,
uncertain,
frustrated,
angry,
discouraged.
But this is because our minds and hearts are too focused on things of this world rather than things above. Too often we have the same short view that unbelievers have, rather than the long view that comes from the light of Bible prophecy.
The devil is the god of this world, and his handiwork is evident everywhere, but he is not God and he is not in control of the times and the seasons. Our God is the Father of all seasons and His will is perfect.
Daniel 2:20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: 22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
We should stand in the confidence that the present evil is exceedingly temporary and will soon be cut down.

The Lord Is My Shepherd
Psalm 23
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
I have known some of the wealthiest men on this continent intimately -- also some of the leading scientists and professional people. Despite their dazzling outward show of success, despite their affluence and their prestige, they remained poor in spirit, shriveled in soul, and unhappy in life. They were joyless people held in the iron grip and heartless ownership of the wrong master.
By way of contrast, I have numerous friends among the relatively poor people -- people who have known hardship, disaster, and the struggle to stay afloat financially. But because they belong to Christ and have recognized Him as Lord and Master of their lives, their owner and manager, they are permeated by a deep, quiet, settled peace that is beautiful to behold.
It is indeed a delight to visit some of these humble homes where men and women are rich in spirit, generous in heart, and large of soul. They radiate a serene confidence and quiet joy that surmounts all the tragedies of their time. They are under God's care and they know it. They have entrusted themselves to Christ's control and found contentment. Contentment should be the hallmark of the man or woman who has put his or her affairs in the hands of God. This especially applies in our affluent age. But the outstanding paradox is the intense fever of discontent among people who are ever speaking of security. By contrast the simple Christian, the humble person, the Shepherd's sheep, can stand up proudly and boast, "The Lord is my shepherd -- I shall not be in want."

Remembering Pearl Harbor
It was 73 years ago today. Many of us were not even born, let alone know what this attack entailed and the results of the attack and the losses. Like our 9/11, The Pearl Harbor attack is a day in infamy and is to be regarded as a "We Will Never Forget".
The USS Arizona Memorial, located at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors killed on the USS Arizona during the Attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 by Japanese imperial forces and commemorates the events of that day. The attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oʻahu was the action that led to United States involvement in World War II.
The memorial, dedicated in 1962 and visited by more than one million people annually, spans the sunken hull of the battleship without touching it. Since it opened in 1980, the National Park Service has operated the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center associated with the memorial. Historical information about the attack, boat access to the memorial, and general visitor services are available at the center. The sunken remains of the battleship were declared a National Historic Landmark on 5 May 1989.

Thankful For The Freedoms Bought With A Price
In 2011, Ohio governor John R. Kasich commemorated Thanksgiving as a time “for friends and family to gather together and express gratitude for our blessings, to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy…,” and a “day when Americans recognize the providence bestowed upon our nation and celebrate the courage and faith of our country’s first settlers…” Even before Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving in 1863, Jefferson Davis had issued a proclamation inviting the Confederate states to “unite in rendering thanks and praise to God for these great mercies, and to implore Him to conduct our country safely through the perils which surround us…”
Perils still surround us. However, the nation that was founded upon religious freedom and individual liberty and opportunity is threatened today, more importantly, from within, by increasing unrest, upheaval, scandal and crisis after crisis.
Lincoln foresaw that the greatest dangers to our nation are internal, not foreign. In 1838 he challenged Americans with the task of perpetuating our political institutions in order to perform gratitude to our founding fathers and duty to our posterity.
“How, then, shall we perform it?” he asked, “At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a Trial of a thousand years.
At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
When the first American patriots broke away from the tyranny of King George, they knew that they were risking the loss of everything they had, including their lives. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” Jefferson and many of the framers of the constitution seemed to realize that, given enough time, any government tends to become more corrupt, tyrannical and oppressive.
Our political, social and economic freedoms were bought with a price, the blood of the patriots. However, there is a kind of freedom which has been purchased with even more precious blood, the freedom from the power of sin and death. It is this freedom for which we are eternally grateful.
1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Believers have been purchased with a great price, God’s blood. Our works could never be good enough to obtain this great redemption, for which Jesus paid such an incredible price.

Unite As One!
There is a wave coming, and the earthquake that set it loose was the prayer of Jesus that we may “Unite as One.”
For He said in John 13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Brothers and Sisters, Unite as One in Christ!

A Line In The Sand
This line in the sand for freedom is separating people in a major
way. And this is not necessarily a bad thing. In the same way that God
commanded Abram to separate from his home and kin, so, too, the Spirit
of God is separating people many times from their friends, their
neighbors, their kinfolk, and, yes, their church families. I seem to
recall that during the period of the early church, the conflict of
principle forever separated the apostles Paul and Silas. And during
America’s War for Independence, the conflict of principle separated
Benjamin Franklin and his son William–as it did tens of thousands of
others.
Perhaps not since the days of Patrick Henry, Sam Adams, et al., have Americans been forced to deal–intellectually, reasonably, emotionally, volitionally, and spiritually–with the fundamental issues of liberty as we are being forced to do today. For way too long, Americans have taken freedom for granted. For way too long, our educational and religious institutions (not to mention our homes) have not taught the fundamental principles of liberty. This negligence has brought our country to the brink of oppression and despotism. And, just as was the case in Colonial America, a line in the sand for freedom is being drawn in the hearts of men.
This internal line in the sand is being drawn irrespective of a person’s education, temperament, upbringing, intelligence, or faith. While some men seem to be content to live under the heel of governmental oppression, many others have an innate thirst for freedom that all of the armies in the world cannot quench.
In truth, the thirst for freedom is part of Natural Law. A horse is not broken without a fight; a tiger or lion will pace its cage as long as it can walk looking for an avenue of escape; a bird will fly around its cage ten thousand times looking for an opening to return to the sky. Yes, animals can be broken–and so can be some men, unfortunately. But the innate desire for freedom is born in the soul of every man.
However, the desire for comfort, ease, and material pleasure is a handsome tempter that many people find more attractive than the harsh and weather-torn face of liberty. Plus, the further liberty slips out of view, the more vague the memory of it becomes. And before we realize it, the face of liberty is only seen in the irrelevant relics of the songs and statues of history. But it is exactly at this point that the Spirit of God begins to renew in the hearts of men the Natural thirst for liberty. And that is precisely what is happening now.

A Humble Beginning
He did not wait for a castle. He didn’t
hold out for a perfected people. He came when we least expected
Him…when all He could be offered was a humble greeting and abode.
And so, it is appropriate this day that we hear the angel’s greeting:
"Do not be afraid." Do not be afraid that the abode of your heart is not a castle, that you
are not a perfect person, that you are in fact a sinner most in need of forgiveness.
You see, it is not a problem for Jesus to come and dwell among
the poor, the sinful, the wretched. Why do we always think that we must
be holy and perfect before He will even so much as glance our way? It is
not true...Christmas tells us differently.
Jesus desires to come
to you now, as you are, even in your sinfulness. He can do this because
He is Love itself. But it is also true that He desires to make you holy
and perfect. Not for His sake, but for your own. The more holy you are,
the happier you will be. And He wishes to do this for you because He is
Love itself.
And so this day, open your heart to this gentle Child.
Let nothing...no fear, no failure, no sin...stop you from welcoming Him into
the humble and poor manager that is your heart. Because He is Love
itself, He will love you, cleanse you, and heal you. He wishes, in fact,
to transform you into love itself. That is His gift to you.
Come to Him with a humble beginning.

It's Still The Cross
It's Still The Cross by Sacred Heritage
It's not conservative or liberal,
However they're defined;
It's not about interpretation,
Or the judgment of the mind;
It's the opposite of politics,
Power or prestige;
It's about a simple message,
And whether we believe.
Chorus:
It's still the cross,
It's still the blood of Calvary;
That cleanses sins,
And sets the captives free.
It's still the name,
The name of Jesus,
That has power to save the lost;
It's still the cross.
We can water down theology,
And preach a word to suit our needs;
We can justify sweet subtle lies,
That are wrapped in noble deeds;
We can alter our convictions,
To adapt to social whims;
But we cannot change the gospel,
Or the truth contained within.
Chorus
Though some may say it's man's religion,
Or ancient history;
The cross of Jesus still remains,
The price for sin that sets us free.
Chorus

All That Is Left...

Jim Quinn discusses the fourth turning, a cyclical event in which we currently find ourselves – like it or not. In his recent article Twenty-First Century Breakdown Quinn walks us through the previous Saeculums, periods comprised of 80 – 100 years, and demonstrates how we are now in the fourth, or final, phase of the current Saeculum – the Crisis.
There is no way to avoid this Crisis. It can’t be bypassed. Just as the seasons must progress from Spring to Summer through Fall and into Winter, a Crisis must follow an Unraveling. History does not have a rewind button. Secular Winter has arrived and the country couldn’t be less prepared for the challenges ahead. The government and the governed enter this highly dangerous period weakened and fragile. The short-sighted economic choices and deferred fiscal decisions will collide with peak oil and uncontrolled globalization to inflict a horrific resolution to this Crisis. The gravity of our situation cannot be overstated. As politicians and the mainstream media play pretend games of recovery and false optimism, the country hurtles closer to the abyss. The country had a chance to prepare for this Winter by:Whether cycles are real or not is a hotly debated concept. Our personal view is that cyclical events are everywhere, from the birth-to-death cycle of human life to the 26,000 year galactic alignment, we can see cyclical events everywhere in nature.
You may have noticed that as a country we not only did not prepare for Winter, we proceeded like it would never come. No leader has emerged to bluntly speak the truth to the American people. Culture wars still rage. Government has expanded and our military has been depleted in useless wars of choice. All that is left is for individuals to prepare their families for the immense challenges ahead.
- Forging consensus regarding the problems we face.
- Preparing our governmental institutions for the challenges ahead.
- Political leaders bluntly describing the issues before us, stressing duties over rights.
- Developing community teamwork to solve local problems.
- Treating our youth as a national priority.
- Preparing elders for the sacrifices and unfulfilled promises in their future.
- Reducing government and personal debt.
- Conserve military resources for the long road ahead.
And, because our economies and political systems are man-made, we would suggest that they, too, must follow natural cycles.
As Quinn points out, we have gotten to a point where most of those who have the power to make the necessary changes have refused to do so, either because they are ignorant of the facts or are ignoring the signs altogether.
This leaves us with one option, which is essentially to prepare ourselves, as individuals, families and close community units, to weather the coming storm.
Remember that this is a cyclical event which may very well last two decades or more. We’re talking much more than just storing freeze-dried food, ammo and gas. To prepare for an event like this requires a different kind of mindset – one of sustainability and self reliance that will require a dynamic approach to a variety of problems.
While we recommend to our readers that they should be prepared for an array of potential disaster scenarios, the only way to mitigate a crisis of this magnitude, one that lasts many years, is to develop skills that will allow you to be more self reliant in terms of income generation, food procurement, and energy production.
It’s time to get back to our rugged American roots and start doing for ourselves instead of holding out our hands looking for freebies from a broke government support system.

A Thanksgiving "Goodwill"
Thanksgiving is a day of gratitude and thankfulness for all the blessings we have enjoyed this year.
It has been a tough year for many of us in many arenas, and we will be
remiss to not add a prayer of goodwill for all who are suffering,
experiencing loss, and in need a bountiful harvest. Please think
of our friends and family who are away, our troops, the sick, the
destitute, others who are alone during this time of celebration, and
send them a heartfelt prayer or goodwill thought.
I would like to also use this special occasion to say a huge Thank You to my readers, all who stop by to comment or just read this blog, my fellow bloggers, my friends on the various social media communities, activism related colleagues, friends online and off, family and more…
Thanksgiving!....below is a video song and my way of saying Happy Thanksgiving and sharing what I am thankful/grateful for. I know this is a busy day in the USA, and my friends and family around the world would be at work or doing other things. I send thanks and joy to all and the hope that Jesus will be a part of your life.
